Meeting Rescheduled for Wednesday

I have made an executive decision to reschedule the April 20th meeting to be the morning on Wednesday the 22nd. It is also going to change locations from PB Drive to to 20th Street in Del Mar. This decision was made due to the lack of swell for monday and the predicted swell coming in wednesday/thursday. There is a south that could be producing a few forerunners on wednesday in the waist to chest high range. These sets are gonig to be coming from 190 at 20-seconds.

I hope you make the call yourself and meet up at 6:30 to get a few fun waves and meet up with your fellow surfer colleauges! :-)

April 9th Board Meeting Notes

Seems like yesterday, but a week and a half has already passed since the last board meeting and I have yet to post the pics and meeting "notes". So here it is...

Robert Smith (ACOE), Kevin Grant (PMC), Mike Trotta (LSA), and myself showed up at north camprounds in carlsbad after a few days of heavy wind to find lingering messy peaks... but at least it was offshore! It looked surfable but deceivingly so...

On his way down from Oceanside, Mike Trotta checked out close to the harbor and suggested we make a quick run up the coast for more lined up waves. Usually, I find that the more I drive, the worse the waves get, but in this case we actually found that Mike was telling the truth and paddled out in waist to chest high waves that were overall really fun.

We found a peak that was mostly to ourselves (but Mike still managed to snake a girl that wouldn't leave him alone :-) Robert was catching a few good ones and seemed the most stoked to be in the ocean!

After our session we made a stop at Longboarders Cafe for an always satisfying breakfast and conversation about how the economy is changing the dynamics of our insdustry. Good waves, good food and better company... the best meeting I have been to in a LONG time.

New Schedule

Due to some feedback I have been getting the Professionals "Board" meeting has been changed to have meetings on Thursdays instead of Fridays.

So the new schedule looks like this:

April 9 – Carlsbad Campgrounds
April 20 – PB Drive
May 14 – Oceanside – Surfrider Way
May 25 – Bird Rock
June 11 - Tamarack
June 22 – Imperial Beach
July 9 – Camp Pendleton
July 20 – Wind’anSea

And at any time that anyone wants to suggest an "emergency" meeting for when there is a great swell, just repond to everyone via the Evite or just email me and I will send out an email alert.

3.23.09 Meeting Notes

Hi this is Patrick Zabrocki from PMC with the meeting notes for the 3.23.09 Board Meeting at Scripps Pier.

Mario Covic (County of San Diego), Mike Trotta (LSA), Todd Easley (LSA), Dan Rosie (LSA), and I (Patrick Zabrocki, PMC) showed up to a bitter cold and storm-beaten but large morning.

The waves were borderline out of control and overhead. Although we watched it for a long time, it seemed to only get worse and the paddle out looked intense...

So as a collective group we jumped into our warm cars and headed to Papalulu for breakfast to talk utility and fire danger, water issues, and other random surf stories underneath the Palm Trees in the patio (look out for those Night Herons!).

Although we pulled out every excuse in the book not to paddle out and fight the heavy conditions, I think we all regret not suiting up...

Nobody showed... waves were bad. Although a few people called me to see if it was good, I gave them the honest report and we all decided that it was better to spend time with family.

Meeting Notes February 23

Hi Everyone, this is Patrick Zabrocki with your meeting notes for the Professional's Board Meeting on February 23, held at OB Pier (previously Sunset Cliffs).

So first I want to apologize for sending the evite out the Friday before this meeting. It didn't leave much time to respond or make the plans for everyone. I will be sending the evites and reminders to you (including outlook invites) much earlier from here on out. That being said...

There were only three attendees again this meeting. Christi Keller (PMC), Mike Trotta (LSA) and myself, Patrick Zabrocki (PMC). Garbage at Sunset Cliffs was exactly that... garbage. There actually were a few sets that looked rideable but they were rare and very soft. There was a 6 foot high that was drowning the reef so after 25 minutes of waiting we headed over to OB Pier to find solid head high waves!!

There was a left off the pier then a fairly consistent peak to the north that had less people and a lined up left. Although it was a lot better than we expected the waves were still pretty shifty and soft. There was a funky crowd (it IS Ocean Beach or course) but it was light and plenty of waves for everyone. Despite the all that it was a fun morning to be in the water and probably the best waves we have had at a "board" meeting thus far.

We then had breakfast at the simple but yummy Tower 2 Restaurant. Nothing fancy but we could still get a few glances of the sets getting better as the tide dropped... It was difficult to go back to the office.

The next Professionals Board Meeting is going to be held in Del Mar on March 13th. More details to come... Hope to see you there!
